12317On offer is a signed envelope front, bearing the signature of William Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, 4th Earl Fitzwilliam (1748-1833).
Signed Wentworth Fitzwilliam on the front left of the envelope bottom. It is dated 1823. The text written on the envelope cover reads: To Mr. Wilkinson, Mrs Walker's, Factory Lane, Doncaster.
William Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, 4th Earl Fitzwilliam styled Viscount Milton until 1756, was a British Whig statesman of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In 1782 he inherited his uncle Charles Watson Wentworth's estates, making him one of the richest people in Britain. He played a leading part in Whig politics until the 1820s.
The envelope cover measures 9 x 6-1/2 inches flat size. Paper in good condition however, there are two sections outside of envelope front panel torn away with no hand writing affected. Age toning present. Writing is legible. Overall Fair.
