Dame Emma Albani Gye (1847-1930) was a Canadian operatic soprano of the 19th and early 20th centuries, the first Canadian singer to achieve international acclaim performing across Europe, North America, and Australia. After training her voice with performances in Italy she held prominent positions in London’s Covent Garden and the New York Metropolitan Opera. Sadly, poor investments left her short in later life and she spent her retirement giving music lessons to earn an income.
This piece measures 4 x 6 inches folded vertically and has a horizontal crease across the centre. The inside is blank, there are minor signs of age and age-tone. The condition is Very Good.
