The initials at the end could be “WBG” indicating Walter Bayne Geikie, but it is unclear.
Walter Bayne Geikie MD (1830-1917), noted doctor and educator, was licensed by the Medical Board of Upper Canada in July 1851. He practised in Bond Head from 1851 to 1856. He worked at Victoria College at Cobourg 1856-1870 and the Medical Faculty of Trinity College in 1871 as registrar and treasurer and, on the death of E.M. Hodder in 1878, was made dean. (The address 52 Maitland St. is near Trinity College.)
Geikie was on the consulting staff of Toronto General Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children until 1903. He was also president of the Union Loan Savings Co. and Toronto City Mission, treasurer in Canada of the Armenian Relief Fund, and vice-president of the Upper Canada Bible Society.
This piece is an age-toned 8-½ x 11-½ lithograph sheet with some minor creasing and a worn top edge. Its condition is Good.
