1898 Personal Correspondence by G. Hawthorne From Scottish Fishing Lodge Walton Hall
12430On offer is an blind embossed card from Walton Hall in Kelso, Scotland, on which is written a letter to Mr. H- from a G. Hawthorne. Dated April 2, 1898, context includes thanks for “sending me a copy of your clever play - ‘Summer…’ “ and “I hope you got safely home from ‘The Ball.’ This is a lovely… a charming party.”
The Walton Hall, Kelso, N.B. (North Britain) in Scotland was built as a fishing lodge for John Ballantyne, Sir Walter Scott's friend and publisher, but he died before it was completed.
The letter consists of a folded card, 4-⅜ x 7 inches, written on all four surfaces. There is a small discolouration on the top of the front facing page. Age-toned and in Very Good condition.
