1898 Letter from Rev. William Wilcox Perrin, second Bishop of British Columbia, Expressing Thanks at His Inclusion in the Consecration of the Bishop of Sacramento
12435On offer dated Dec. 30, 1898 is a "BishopsClose" [Christ Church Cathedral] Victoria BC blind embossed card featuring a letter from Rt. Reverend Wm. Wilcox Perrin. Writing to "Brother" saying he heard he might be asked to help at the Consecration of the new Bishop of Sacramento, Perrin states he is pleased this is now confirmed by an official invitation. He refers to the western identity of the church emerging and his visit to San Francisco. Signed W.W. Columbia (William Wilcox Perrin)
The Reverend William Willcox Perrin (1848–1934) was an Anglican bishop who served in both Canada and England. He was consecrated as the Bishop of British Columbia in 1893, a role he held until 1911. Later, he returned to England, becoming the Bishop of Willesden and an Assistant Bishop of London, and also serving as Rector of St Andrew Undershaft.
This item is a folded card written on all four surfaces at 4-½ x 7 inches. Some smudges on the front, discoloration from tape, and an old paper clip mark on the top are evident. Also a horizontal crease from folding. Very Good condition.
