C. 1785 Two Page Personal Letter To An Aunt From English Barrister & MP Richard Burke
12449On offer is a two page handwritten letter from Richard Burke to his aunt Juliana French regarding the delay of recent correspondence during a trip with his father causing a missed opportunity to visit, as well as notice of £50 sent for his cousin. Circa 1785.
Richard Burke (1758-1794) was an English barrister and Member of Parliament. He was Recorder of Bristol from 1783 until his early death. He was the son of Edmund Burke the Irish MP, statesman and philosopher.
Juliana French (née Burke) (1728-1790) was the sister of Edmund Burke MP (1729-1797) and aunt to Richard Burke (1758-1794)
This holograph letter measures 9-¼ x 15 inches unfolded, on light paper with a few tears, mostly on the last page not affecting the text. The original red wax seal remains. Fair condition.
