1935 Holograph Letter In French from Quebec Premier Louis-Alexandre Taschereau
12471On offer is a handwritten letter on Prince House Quebec letterhead, dated 14 Janvier 1935. It is a request from Mr. Taschereau, in French, for a list of announcements from a Dr. Whitehead, written to a Mr. Cauchon in Toronto.
Louis-Alexandre Taschereau was a lawyer, liberal politician, and the 14th Premier of Quebec from 1920 to 1936, elected four times. He served as an MLA for over 35 years, from 1900 until his resignation on June 11, 1936. During the Great Depression he adopted the first Unemployment Act. He was named an Officer of the Legion of Honour in 1924 and a Commander in 1927, and received the Grand Cross in 1934.
Two pages on a 6 x 7-½ inch card, previously folded, with mild age timing. Very Good condition.
