1914 Autographs of Three Canadian Premiers: J.A. Mathieson, Arthur L. Sifton, and James K. Flemming
12473On offer, three autographs of provincial Premiers. On July 20, 1914, Elizabeth Sutherland of Dunrobin Cottage, Meach Lake, Quebec, sent a collection of handwritten letters to Premiers requesting their autographs for her collection. Three responses are included here, two signed on Elizabeth’s original letter and returned, and the third on an Executive Council (PEI) embossed card, with accompanying letter from the PEI Attorney General’s office.

Elizabeth’s letters are each written on an 8-¾ x 7 inch unfolded card. There are creases from the original folds and are in Excellent condition.
The Mathieson signature is on a folded card with stylized torn edges measuring 5 x 6-½ inches with a central fold crease and some faint smudging. The accompanying letter is on an 8-½ x 11 inch single page previously folded with a creased lower right corner. Both PEI pieces are in Very Good condition.
