Lebert Lombardo
The signatures are on the exterior of a sealed, empty envelope bearing the printed address 931 Queen Street West, Toronto. In 1934 this was the address of the Bates And Dodds Funeral Home, owned by then-mayor of Toronto William James Stuart; but no significance to this association is presented.
Carmen Lombardo (1903-1971), born in London, Ontario, was lead saxophonist and featured vocalist for his brother's orchestra. He was also a successful composer. Lebert Lombardo (1905-1993), born in London, Ontario, also a member of the original Royal Canadians, was the chief trumpeter as well as playing the cornet, and drums. Their younger brother Victor Lombardo joined the band later, although Victor was never a partner; ownership of the band remained with the three older brothers.
Both autographs on the back of a 4 x 7-1/2 inch envelope, sealed but empty. Some discolouration, age-toning, and minor creasing. Very Good condition.
