12496On offer is a letter from a J. Jordan dated Mar. 4 1864, at 52 Parliament Street in London. He writes to a Captain Starke in Herne Bay, Kent, regarding the ownership of the shoreline around the pier, and some of the acts in place that protect the land and restrict the removal of stone or beach.
Letter opening contents;

The letter continues, confirming it is illegal to remove sand from the beach and anyone can legally bring this forward.
Herne Bay is a seaside town in Kent, South East England, on the south coast of the Thames Estuary, 6 miles (10 km) north of Canterbury.
