1441On offer is a significant, historical relic of the Civil War being a book of 71 bound-in original handwritten telegraphs dated from May 19, 1864 to December 6, 1864. All appear to be handwritten and all have been folded at least 2 times or more. Many have original autographs by the sender. Several different types of paper were used to write them on. All in excellent condition. Examples of some of the subjects of telegrams are: Where to send white and colored recruits; payment amounts for recruits; forbidden furloughs granted to recruits by Provost Marshalls; Arrest Acting Masters Mate Edw. Parsons at Lebanon Springs and have him delivered on board the receiving ship, North Carolina, at Brooklyn Navy Yard plus many, many more. The premium book is 8" x 10" with leather spine and corners with gilt stamped title on the spine attests to the importance of the contents.
