1908 ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT JOURNAL OF A YOUNG MIDSHIPMAN'S EDUCATION IN NAVIGATION AND SEAMANSHIP ABOARD THE USS HARTFORD

On offer is a super manuscript relic of early 20th Century marine and naval education being a study, notes and tests with corrections navigation course book handwritten by United States Naval Midshipman Williams Carter Wickham, of the noted Virginia Wickham family, while he trained aboard the USS Hartford at the time. [From a long line of noted military men WCW would go on the be LCDR of the USS DENT in World War I]. Dated 1908 to 1909 the book has 200 pages of handwritten notes. The book features his cut and paste questions and tests with his instructor's notations. The final entry is stated as 'Excellent'.
