On offer is an informative Boer War era manuscript 4 page autograph letter signed [ALS] dated Pietersburg [South Africa], Aug. 22 1902 handwritten by Reverend C.E.C. Lillingstone a clergyman serving the troops detailing his activities and duties: "...the work here is very fascinating. One Regt. (Wilts) has left us, but we still have nearly 1000 troops here. Lately I have been playing cricket a good deal...." Talks about his various cricket games. "I miss the Wilys men very much. There were some very keen Christians amongst them. You would be amused to see our 'tea & bun canteen' at work each night. The men buy up the buns very quickly. The last night the Wilts were here, we sold 46 doz. in 1/2 an hour. Tonight we are to have a Camp Fire Concert..." Overall VG.
