Nov. 24th, 1843, Dear and respected friend and Bro in Christ, I have taken up my pen to inform you that we are all in reasonable state of health at present and hoping that these lines may find you and yours, together with all our relation in good health and prosperity and on the way to Heaven. I will now state to you something about my companion's journey together with her opinions upon the same. When she first made up her mind to go a journey, it was somewhat doubtful whether she would get to York State on account of her health but after she got on the way, she found health improving so that the journey on to your place, and when she arrived their the appearance of the country was so pleasing to her that it appeared to animate her much and when she got acquainted with our relation there, she enjoyed herself so well that she wished for her family to be there. She thought she could be contented. She likes the ways and customs of that country quite preferable to ours. When they left your place for home the first day they got to Geneva, the 2nd day to Corning, the 3rd day to Williamsport and 4th day to Harrisburg and home on Sabbath morning, which was a joyful hour to us….Now my dear Bro, a few assertions, how pleasant it is to have an intercourse to each other and to express our feelings towards each other and what an inclination we have to be with each other. Yet the sympathies and feelings of this kind will all pass away but thanks be to Almighty God for the hope that is set before us. That if it's God's will that we shant see each other in this world, that I hope an trust we shall meet at the right hand of our Heavenly Father where there will be no more correspondence by letter….Yours in Christ, C.
