604On offer is a wonderful, original archive of eight letters circa 1907-1909 of famed pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Hughes. Very nice group dealing with the portrait of Queen Alexandria. Included in this collection is an original invitation to the portrait viewing, a letter dated 1905 from daughter, Alice Hughes to a Thomas Wallace of Connecticut regarding a tour of their studios, another dated 1907 again from Alice Hughes to Mr. Wallace regarding the Queen Alexandria unveiling and the inclusion of an invitation should he be able to make it and a letter dated 1907 from Edward Hughes to Mr Wallace regarding the completion of the Queens painting, signed twice by Edward Hughes with postcript. Letters are in fine shape, with original envelopes, each letter about 4 pages, 3" x 5", signed. letters are complete and in fine shape. Overall a very fine group. BIO NOTES: London artist Edward Hughes was an exceedingly popular portrait painter in European high society. His commissions included the Prince of Wales, his brother Prince Albert, and his sister Princess Mary, among other royals and persons of wealth.
