Offered is a super, very interesting 1858 Baltimore letter handwritten by Lyman Reed to James Gordon Bennett publisher of the New York Herald regarding the scourge of Potato Disease and this Baltimore man's investigation and analysis [not present]. The letter about Reed's discovery that insects were the cause of "Potato Rot" makes for another fine example of the City's community of naturalists, scientists and innovative minds.
