1890 HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT TRAVEL DIARY THROUGH EUROPE STARTING WITH THE STEAMER PURITAN
656On offer is a fully written original manuscript notebook style day-by-day travel journal begins September 6, 1890 when our writer, Frances S. Lintchell, leaves Portland, Maine via train to Nova Scotia, then boards STEAMER PURITAN for the Atlantic crossing to Europe. She arrives in Liverpool England Sept. 15, 1890 and by Sat. Nov. 1 she is writing her daily entries from Heidelberg, Germany and by the 18th of Nov. is in Berlin. Francis is an excellent diarist and very observant as evidenced by the great detail of her daily activities, who she meets, where she goes, restaurants, exhibitions, etc. The book ends on Jan. 23, 1891 while she is still in Germany. It is assumed she continued in another book which unfortunately is absent. Book measures approx. 5 1/2 inches x 8 inches, unpaginated but certainly in excess of 100 pages.
