On offer is small archive of two [2] items: 1) a short handwritten manuscript note wherein William Ewart Gladstone, as Prime Minister, on headed notepaper of 10 Downing Street, Whitehall writes in the third person: "Mr Gladstone thanks W. Norman for his letter of the 21st, & will endeavour to avail himself of the opportunities offered. Mch 23." Very good condition. 2) Also included, is a letter 'front', addressed and signed by Gladstone in 1839, when he was M.P. for Newark. Gladstone served as Prime Minister on four occasions: 1868-1874, 1880-1885, 1886 and 1892-1894.
