On offer is an original handwritten autographed letter [ALS] signed "Charles" 1951, written on comical French aviation postcard wherein he writes of preparations for a coming ascension. Charles Dollfus [1893-1981] was an aeronaut, historian, longtime conservator of the Museum of the Air. He went for his first ride in a balloon in 1911. In 1913 he acquired a balloon pilot's license. He was the first French passenger to carry out the double crossing of the South Atlantic on board the Graf Zeppelin. Shallow crease otherwise G+.
