On offer is a typed letter dated March 1, 1954, issued by the Asociación Nacional “Hijas de Libertadores” (Havana) and addressed to the Presidente del Consejo de Veteranos.

The official communication announces the unanimous election of Esther Recio de Villamil as Presidenta, following the resignation of María Antonia Agüero. It is signed in ink by Dra. A. González Recio and bears a clear circular organizational stamp reading:

“Pro-Dignidad Patriótica”

This letter supports the association’s role in supporting the “familia veteranista” and maintaining ties with veteran institutions, including explicit reference to “los viejos Libertadores.”

Issued two years into Fulgencio Batista's military dictatorship, the document captures the transition during which Independence War veterans passed from public life. The prominent use of "Pro-Dignidad Patriótica" demonstrates how women's civic groups actively leveraged the unimpeachable legacy of their veteran fathers to maintain cultural authority and civic space.

Condition: Single sheet with horizontal fold, moderate toning, and bends, creases and mild small tears due to age and handling. Document is typed and signed by hand. Signature and stamp clear and fully legible.
