1957 Signed Letter from G.W.L. Nicholson to The Globe and Mail Accompanying The Book: Faith of Our Fathers, Submitted for Review
12411On offer is a typed letter signed from Lt.-Col. G.W.L. Nicholson (1902-1980), dated April 16th, 1957, on letterhead of the [Anglican Church] Diocese of Ottawa, The Synod Office, to The Editor, Globe and Mail, Toronto. The letter concerns sending a review copy of the newly published book Faith of Our Fathers (1957) by Robert Jefferson and Leonard Johnson.
The Diocese of Ottawa at the time of publication included the Deaneries of Arnprior, Carleton, Lanark, Pembroke, Prescott, Russell, and Stormont. Reverend Jefferson was their Bishop.
Lt.-Col. G.W.L. (Gerald William Lingen) Nicholson was a Canadian soldier, historian, author, and teacher. He was the Director of the Historical Section, Army Headquarters and is best known for his 1962 book Canadian Expeditionary Force, 1914-1919, the only official history of Canada's participation in World War I.
This item is a single page, previously folded, 7-¼ x 10 inches. There are small holes at the top left corner where a staple was removed. Very good condition.
