
1895 Holograph Letter From British Actor Alfred Bishop to a Miss Phelps
12444On offer is a handwritten letter on 10 St. Peter’s Square, Ravenscourt Park blind embossed letterhead, dated Feb 22nd, 95. Bishop writes to Miss Phelps (likely Miss Laura B. Phelps, violin virtuoso) to inform her he regretfully cannot attend her concert, but will recommend his friends attend, closing with a wish of complete success.
Alfred Bishop (1848-1928) was born in Liverpool, England. As an actor he was known for roles in The Brass Bottle (1914), The Lifeguardsman (1916) and His Last Defence (1919). He was married to actress Rose Egan.
This single sided letter measures 4-½ x 7 inches, has some discolouration50 and age-toning, and a horizontal fold crease. Good condition.
